2021 Dr. Scott Newman named sixth president of OSU-OKC

Dr. Scott Newman was named president of the OSU-Oklahoma City campus on May 20.

Newman will become the sixth president of OSU-Tulsa, replacing interim Michael Widell, who held the position of interim after Brad Williams stepped down in January.

Newman served as the provost and vice president of academic affairs for Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSUIT) in Okmulgee. His nearly 21-year career at OSUIT ranged from serving as a faculty member and dean to chief academic officer.

He also served as the founding dean for OSUIT’s School of Information Technologies in 2001 for which he led the creation of award-winning associate and bachelor’s degree programs, and developed industry partnerships.

Newman has earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma, a master’s degree from the University of Oxford and a doctorate in higher education from Oklahoma State University.

His selection was approved at the June 18 Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents meeting.
