Minnesota senator and former vice president Hubert Humphrey visited OSU to conduct a Rural Development Subcommittee hearing. The hearing was held in the Student Union Theater and explored ways to improve the quality of life in rural areas.

Humphrey served as vice president under President Lyndon Johnson from 1965-1969 and represented Minnesota in the U.S. Senate from 1949-1964 and 1971-1978.
