Twenty years after Coach Iba retired from OSU, a player he coached back in the 1950s, Eddie Sutton, returned to Stillwater to restore OSU basketball to its winning ways. After coaching at Creighton, Arkansas, and Kentucky, Sutton took over at OSU in 1990 and set about rebuilding the program. He led the team to 368 wins and 13 NCAA tournament appearances. Though Sutton never won a national championship, he was the fifth winningest coach in NCAA history at the close of the 2005-06 season. The basketball court at Gallagher-Iba Arena was christened Eddie Sutton Court in his honor.
