A trip to the University of Florida's "Gator Growl" in 1995 gave a group of students, faculty and alumni from OSU the inspiration for Orange Peel. Orange Peel ran from 1996 to 2008 with a mission to become the largest student-produced concert event in the country and provide the OSU family with national and local headlining entertainment.

Orange Peel was discontinued after 2009 due to lack of funding, but the Cowboy community will always remember the many years of entertainment it brought to Stillwater. Country singers Brooks and Dunn are pictured with students; they performed at Orange Peel in 2004.
