Following a period of input from alums and the campus community, OSU unveiled a new Campus Master Plan in 2005, the first in over 70 years. Projects in the initial, five-year-phase included new homes for the Schools of Architecture and Business, science and research facilities, and an athletic village north of Boone Pickens Stadium. The purchase of property for the athletic village drew criticism from property owners as well as those with rental property in the area from the stadium to McElroy, between Knoblock and Washington Streets. The project includes the construction of an indoor practice facility for most sports, a soccer stadium/outdoor track, a tennis complex, and a baseball stadium.
