1895 New president Edmund Murdaugh, 1895

Edmund D. Murdaugh, the third president for the college, managed to establish the first college press bureau in the short six months he served in 1895 and the bureau soon helped increase the information flow to Stillwater and other areas.

He was dismissed following differences with the director of the Agricultural Experiment Station involving its operation.

Murdaugh moved on to a distinguished career in higher education. He was often described as the” father” of the state teacher college system.
