1992 Statue in honor of Vivia Locke unveiled

Former students, family members, and colleagues gathered in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts on April 25, 1992 for the unveiling of a statue memorializing Vivia Nail Locke, drama professor at OSU from 1950-1981.

Locke, whose heritage was both Choctaw and Chickasaw, is remembered as an inspiring teacher and gifted director with former students who work in professional theatre and film, teach in colleges and high schools and volunteer in community theatres.  She died in 1985.

Through planning and input from friends, the statue was created by sculptor Victoria Danial and shipped to Stillwater for the dedication.
