Patti Campbell became OSU's first female spirit rider to actually ride the horse in the stadium after each touchdown in the fall of 1996. The animal science junior from Sallisaw said she didn't accept the honor to make a statement, “It's just something I wanted to do that involves horses and school activities.”
She described Bullet as an easy-going horse who is all business when it comes to football games. The horses ridden during the games were all named “Bullet,” starting in the fall of 1989, after the student body selected the name in a campus-wide contest.
