In July of 2007, OSU initiated a comprehensive energy initiative in partnership with Energy Education Inc., (now known as Cenergistic) which is a company founded by OSU alumnus William Spears, namesake of the Spears School of Business. The program, including standardized best practices and guidelines that promote responsible energy management, is designed to limit utility energy consumption primarily when buildings and spaces are unoccupied.
