OSU students were first treated to the brazen public exhibition of the human anatomy in the spring of 1974 when streakers darted across campus and ended up on the Strip, where they “flashed” in and out of crowds of O-Staters, some even finding a place to perch (photo).
In following years, the temptation to drink and streak became so great that local police set up temporary trailers at the end of the Strip to process those arrested. The fad eventually faded, some attributing its demise to the rise in Oklahoma’s legal drinking age from 18 to 21 in 1983.
