1979 An award-winning decade for student services

The National Association of College and University Residence Halls honored OSU repeatedly in the decade of the 1970s and into the 80s.

The university was recognized nationally as “School of the Year” for the most outstanding residence hall program in 1972 and 1977, with residence halls food services selected the nation’s best in 1977 and 1979.

It was that same year (1979) that the housing program received the national association’s Silver Anniversary Award for Programing Excellence as the most outstanding program in the nation for a quarter century and in 1981 it was again named “School of the Year” the only university to win that award three times.
