Thanks to an $85,000 grant from the Sarkeys Foundation, a Biomedical Surgical Laser Laboratory was established in the Veterinary Medical Hospital. Later the Sarkeys Foundation would give an additional $300,000 toward the project along with donations from the Presbyterian Health Foundation ($225,000) and the Kerr Foundation ($500,000).
