2020 OSU helps test Oklahomans

Oklahoma State University lived up to its land-grant mission during the pandemic, serving the state in a time of crisis with testing for COVID-19.

Through a partnership with OSU Medicine in Tulsa, the university transformed the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory on the Stillwater campus to also perform human testing. In a true show of Cowboy spirit, more than 150 people volunteered to help run the lab.

The lab provided results to patients and health care providers across the state within 48 hours. The lab also provided health officials a clear picture of what the virus looked like in Oklahoma, and, working together with state, county and city health officials, provided invaluable insight that helped slow the spread of the virus through collaborative contact tracing efforts.
