The citizens of Stillwater packed the assembly hall of the College Building (Old Central) on June 10, 1896, to witness the first graduation exercises of Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, which included six young men, all residents of Stillwater. Because Arthur W. Adams (standing, second from left in photo) received his bachelor's degree first, he is considered the college's first graduate. The rest of the class included, standing from left: James H. Adams, Arthur, Ervin G. Lewis and Oscar M. Morris. Seated, from left, are Alfred E. Jarrell and Frank E. Duck.
