Nursery school program

Oklahoma A&M College became only the second land-grant institution in the nation to establish a nursery school program by 1924 in the School of Home Economics. Taught by Louise Shields, the school provided educational experiences for children, helped parents understand child behavior, and offered a setting for students seeking careers in child development. It is known today as the Cleo L. Craig Child Development Laboratory.
