O’Brate Stadium celebrated its opening day on Feb. 24, 2021. The Cowboys took on Little Rock University, earning their first win on their new home turf. Dedication for the stadium took place on May 20, 2021, after being delayed due to COVID-19. Former U.S. President George W. Bush threw out the first pitch at the dedication ceremony with a record 6,362 OSU fans in attendance. As the first of its kind in collegiate athletics, the stadium included 3,500 permanent seats, 11 suites and 420 premium seats, with the ability to be expanded to 8,000 seats as needed. The clubhouse included a 7,400-square-foot locker room, a player lounge that connects to an outdoor practice turf and a state-of-the-art weight training room. The $75 million stadium began construction in February 2018 after serial entrepreneur Cecil O’Brate donated $35 million towards the project. O’Brate attended Oklahoma A&M from 1946-48, studying structural engineering, and received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2018. O’Brate Stadium replaced Allie P. Reynolds Stadium, which was the home for Cowboy baseball for nearly 40 years.
