The nursing lab at Oklahoma State University’s Stillwater campus has been officially named the Mary K. Chapman Nursing Simulation Laboratory. The College of Education and Human Sciences unveiled the name during a celebration in April honoring major donors.Located in the renovated Scott-Parker-Wentz cafeteria, the state-of-the-art lab has been in use since early 2025. It supports OSU’s four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, launched in 2023-24 to address Oklahoma’s critical nursing shortage. Students gain 600 hours of clinical experience across rural and urban settings. The H.A. and Mary K. Chapman Foundation contributed $1.5 million to the project. Mary K. Chapman, a former nurse from Oklahoma, founded the Tulsa-based foundation before her passing in 2002. Additional support came from Rick and Terri Pedigo, whose company donated over $100,000 in medical equipment, and the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, which gave more than $250,000 for simulation manikins.OSU President Jim Hess and Dean Jon Pedersen spoke at the ribbon-cutting event, which included lab tours showcasing the hands-on learning environment shaping the next generation of nurses.
