The spires and turrets of the stately new Library Building added an almost fairytale quality to the prairie college by the end of the year (1900).

Dubbed the "castle of the prairies" the building was designed by Joseph P. Foucart of Guthrie and built at a cost of $19,910.

Six thousand volumes were moved from the College Building (Old Central) to the new library and 4,000 more were ordered to fill the increased space, which also included a well-used reading room (pictured).

In the 1920s, the building was renamed the Biology Building and in the mid-30s it was renamed Williams Hall in honor of a popular English teacher.
