D. Terry Martin (pictured) was the head of the Speech Department at the time that a speech correction program was established under the direction of Dorothy DeWitt, who saw the program through its first few years. Olive Hilles, who assisted DeWitt, took over the program and remained her entire career.
The early day Speech Correction program led to what is now known as the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, which provides academic teaching, research, and accredited clinical training while also serving the people of Oklahoma through the OSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.
