The supervisory staff of the Oklahoma State Vocational Education Department was moved in 1933 from Oklahoma City to the Oklahoma A&M College campus in Stillwater with the support of President Henry Bennett. The office was headed for years by J.B. Perky (pictured at center).
In 1958, it was relocated to a remodeled building on West Sixth Street in Stillwater, which was made available by the renamed Oklahoma State University.
Still headquartered in Stillwater, CareerTech provides a comprehensive system of career and technology education that serves as a model for programs across the U.S. and around the world. Nearly 400 public school districts, 29 technology centers, 58 campus sites and 16 skill centers in Oklahoma work with advisers from local industry to ensure students learned the skills needed to be valued members of the workforce.
