The School of Technical Training was established on the Stillwater campus and quickly picked up momentum going into the war years, later evolving into the Division of Engineering.

The machine pictured was used to test the strength of materials prior to their use. Known as the Tinius Olsen universal testing machine, it was placed in the Engineering South Annex in 1938, where it was used until the 1980s.
