Art Griffith became the first Aggie to ever serve as the head coach of an Olympic team. He took (see full photo, l-r) William Jernigan, Hutton and Hal Moore with him to compete. Griffith, a 1924 graduate of OAMC, succeeded Ed Gallagher as head wrestling coach following Gallagher’s death from pneumonia in 1940.  Under Griffith the Cowboys won eight national titles in 1941,1942,1946, 1948, 1949, 1954, 1955 and 1956.
