C.E. Sanborn, who served 25 years as head of the Department of Entomology, retired and became Oklahoma A&M College's first professor emeritus in 1934. The early-day “bugologist” was known for naming his research subjects, such as the ticks he called “Viola” and “Lottie.” Sanborn is pictured here soon after he joined the college in 1912.
