The Bennett Memorial Chapel was dedicated on December 14, 1957 to honor Oklahoma A&M College's war dead and Dr. and Mrs. Henry G. Bennett, who had been killed in an airplane crash. The chapel was originally envisioned to be a close replica of the old Bruton Parish Church at Williamsburg, Virginia. Its modern design was chosen due to budgetary limits.
