In 1958, the College of Business began offering its first doctorate in economics and Richard W. Poole (pictured) became one of the first two graduates of the new program in 1960. Poole would serve as dean of the college from 1965 to 1972 and later as vice president for university relations, development and extension.

The other 1960 graduate, Duck-Woo Nam, (at center in next photo) would ultimately serve as prime minister of South Korea from 1980 to 1982. Poole and Nam are joined by Robert Sandmeyer (right), who served as dean of the business school from 1977-1994.
