OSU began its relationship with NASA in 1968 when the space agency selected the university to conduct its mobile space-age education demonstration program in eight states on behalf of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The College of Education provided in-service and pre-service assistance to teachers by developing space-related instructional materials and activities for use in classrooms. Work and play is combined as teachers in an aviation workshop (photo) create, decorate and launch a miniature hot air balloon.
