The outside Garden Terrace (pictured) became the foundation of an addition to the Student Union that once again made it the largest in the nation and put the Student Services Center at the hub of the campus in 1999.  The center consolidated the wide range of services that students use on a regular basis, including the registrar, bursar, financial aid office and many others.

The new addition was initially an open atrium, which was later completely covered (pictured) to give students a place to congregate year round.
