The Shadow Lake Eight, a legendary dance band established at OSU, was a big hit at Student Union, fraternity and sorority events from 1958 through 1967.

One of the photos in this series shows the band playing in 1964 on Starlight Terrace at the student union. It made appearances on the Bob Hope Show (pictured) and helped break the color barrier when it featured singers from The Del Chiffons.

The Shadow Lake Eight was inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in 2013 where it performed again with Lewis Tilford (pictured) and former Del Chiffons lead Alda Moore.

The first photo is members of the 1961 version of the band (clockwise, left to right) Larry Lyon, Jack "Kiwi” Land, Kent Washburn, Frank Needham, Enoch Estep, Bill Wallace, Lewis Tilford, Jerry Spray, Barry Wheeler.

The Del Chiffons with the band (left to right, back row:) Bill Schooler, Bill Wallace, Alda Moore, Sid Hester, Connie Smith, Kandi Moore, Jerry Halcomb, (left to right, front row:) Enoch Estep, Larry Langley, Kent Washburn, Jerry Spray, and Joe Pyle.
