Hazel J. Scott was appointed to the newly created position of assistant vice president for student academic services in 1984, becoming the first woman as well as the first African American to hold a vice president’s position at OSU.
She provided leadership in recruitment of students and coordinated the various offices involved in attracting and retaining students as well as their orientation, advisement, and records.
