Cowboy cross country wins 6th NCAA title, OSU's 55th overall

Oklahoma State men’s cross country captured its sixth NCAA national championship — and second in three years — at the 2025 NCAA Championships in Columbia, Missouri. Under Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith, the Cowboys dominated with 57 points, defeating New Mexico by 25 and Iowa State by 101. All five scorers finished in the top 35, including three in the top six: Brian Musau (4th), Fouad Messaoudi (5th) and Denis Kipngetich (6th). Musau earned his third All-America honor, becoming the sixth athlete in program history to achieve that milestone. “I’m just so proud of this family, this group of guys,” Smith said. “They got back to work and put last year behind us — and here we are.” Adisu Guadie placed 12th, and Ryan Schoppe closed his Cowboy career with his first All-America finish in 34th. On the women’s side, freshman Isca Chelangat set a program record with a seventh-place finish (18:56.1), earning All-America honors. The Cowgirls placed 12th overall, with Maureen Rutoh (42nd) and Billah Jepkirui (85th) rounding out the top three. The victory marks OSU’s fifth men’s title under Smith and solidifies the program’s legacy as one of the nation’s elite.
