Cordell Hall opens
Called the “largest college dormitory in the Southwest” when it opened in 1939, Cordell Hall provided housing for 499 men. The hall had a spacious living room furnished with leather upholstered chairs and combination piece divans, something like a luxury hotel. It was demolished in 2018.
