OSU launches Horizon Scholars Program with $12M in donor support

Oklahoma State University has launched the Horizon Scholars program, a prestigious scholarship initiative supported by 13 Cowboy alumni families in collaboration with President Jim Hess. Beginning in fall 2026, the program offers renewable four-year scholarships to incoming freshmen who embody the Cowboy Code and show academic excellence, leadership, curiosity, and ambition. Each Horizon Scholar will receive: $7,500 annually for four years $5,000 for study abroad $5,000 for internships or work experience In-state tuition for all non-Oklahoma students The program includes a tailored interdisciplinary curriculum, mentorship from donors and Dr. Hess, and career development through the Eastin Center for Career Readiness. Scholars will engage in seminars, leadership training, and campus involvement to build critical thinking and global awareness. The OSU Foundation aims to expand the program to support 400 students annually and invites more families to join.
